Message from IEEE Photonics Society on COVID-19 (coronavirus)

work from home

Dear Colleagues,

In this time of great uncertainty, the Photonics Society remains committed to serving and supporting the photonics and optics community.  The health and safety of our members, volunteers, customers, and staff are our first priority.  To that end, we are assessing all products and services in an effort to deploy as many virtual solutions as possible.

All IEEE Photonics Society operations are continuing, as staff are working remotely from their homes to minimize risk.

Our publications continue to accept and publish impactful research. We will remain flexible with publication deadlines, as we understand the constraints local restrictions are having on accessing your labs and completing your important work.

We are working with our conference organizers to assess all our events, and create solutions that allow partial or complete virtual participation. The 2020 Optical Fiber conference (OFC) was a test-bed to launch impressive virtual capabilities that technologies developed by our community have made possible.   Please visit the individual conference websites for updates as we move closer to event dates.  We are committed to publishing all accepted conference papers in IEEE Xplore regardless of how each event is held. We thank you for your patience and support as we work closely with local and national authorities to determine each event’s viability over the coming months.

Our commitment to advancing technology for humanity remains resolute.  We look forward to resume full activities after this critical situation is over and to your engagement, which is the driving force of our society.  We sincerely thank you for your understanding and continued support.

We wish you, your family and colleagues good health!

Very sincerely,

Carmen Menoni, IEEE Photonics Society President 2020 – 2021

Doug Razzano, IEEE Photonics Society Executive Director
