Renew your IEEE membership today and continue accessing the resources, community, and opportunities that help you advance your career and make an impact in your field.
IEEE membership is renewed on an annual basis, with the membership year running from January 1 to December 31. Renewal typically revs up in September of the calendar year, and members are encouraged to renew early to maintain uninterrupted access to IEEE benefits and services. Society aligns its messaging to support MGA approaches. Society members receive renewal notices via mail and email in alignment with MGA and TA MDS procedures. They can easily complete the renewal process through their IEEE Account at ieee.org/renew.
Members who do not renew early in the new year may experience a temporary suspension of access to benefits, including publications and digital library subscriptions. IEEE offers automatic renewal options that include Society memberships. However, while Life Members are exempt from annual dues, they are still required to renew their membership each year and must update their Society memberships separately, as Life Membership exceptions are always included in the Auto Renewal process.
During the renewal process, members of all grades can update their profiles, modify or add Technical Society memberships, including the IEEE Photonics Society, and adjust their technical interest areas. These updates can now also be made conveniently through the IEEE App. Societies have been encouraged to push the IEEE App as an engagement tool.
Membership can be conveniently renewed at the start of each membership year when members sign up for automatic renewal. This means that at the beginning of the membership year, members will automatically be charged for the next membership period to guarantee uninterrupted access to benefits, services, and subscriptions. An email reminder will be sent each September so that members know exactly when the transaction will take place. This message will contain any reminders or action(s) required on a member’s behalf.
