IEEE/Optica Publishing Group Journal of Lightwave Technology Announces New Editor-in-Chief

Please Join Us In Welcoming Magnus Aboard!

The Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT) Steering and Coordinating Committees are pleased to announce the selection of Magnus Karlsson, Professor of Photonics, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, as the next JLT Editor-in-Chief starting 1 January 2025.

Magnus has demonstrated outstanding commitment to JLT over the past five years as both an Associate Editor and Deputy Editor, and even longer as a highly reliable, high-quality reviewer.  Beyond his technical work and editorial work at JLT, he has broad contacts in the field and his full list of publications includes over 500 titles.

The JLT Committees thank outgoing Editor in Chief, Gabriella Bosco, for her excellent service in her six years in the position.

Under her leadership, JLT has strengthened its position as one of the leading global journals in optics and optical communications systems, networks, and active and passive waveguide technology. Leading with its highly cited special issues and sustained inclusion of new topics, the journal is well positioned moving forward. All of us, the IEEE/Optica Publishing Group Coordinating and the IEEE Steering Committees, editors, and our sponsoring societies—Optica Publishing Group and seven IEEE Societies—are very proud of the current state of JLT.
