On the 15th of April 2023, a “Kasih Rezeki” charity program was held with the collaboration from IEEE Photonics Society Malaysia Chapter, Tun Fatimah Hashim Women’s Leadership Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the local communities. The event was located at Sungai Buah Mosque in Dengkil and Batu 5, Bangi Lama, Malaysia. In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, the program came with the motivation to contribute back to society and help the local community in need as part of the preparation for Hari Raya festive season. A series of events were scheduled for the program, such as food preparation and distribution for the local community in need, relief distribution to the needy, senior citizens, and orphanage. A total of 74 individuals received the goodies and relief distribution prepared by the organizer.
The program came to an end with the “Bubur Lambuk”, a lightly spiced rice porridge distribution to the local communities. Representatives from IEEE Photonics Society Malaysia Chapter, Prof. Ir. Dr. Norhana Arsad, Assoc Prof. Dr. Siti Barirah Ahmad Anas, and Ir. Ts. Dr. Nurul Asyikin bt Mohamed Radzi joined other organizing committee members to officiate the program and for the food and relief distribution. Chair of IEEE Photonics Society Malaysia Chapter, Assoc Prof. Dr. Siti Barirah Ahmad Anas, who had also joined the “Kasih Rezeki” charity program, hoped that this program can be continued in the future as it helps others in need and as a platform to give back to the community and society. The program has turned out to be a meaningful one, bringing smiles to the local communities, in the holy month of Ramadhan.
