On November 16, 17, and 18, the fourth edition of the PRISMA Conference will take place, consolidating this own initiative that creates a meeting space to promote mutual support networks between people with diverse orientations and identities and who work in the scientific field. technology and innovation from various disciplines.
This year the conference will take place in the city of Madrid and there are two host universities, in a collaboration that we hope will help bring the initiative closer to more people, in addition to being sponsored by the IEEE Photonics Society, as it has been since the first edition.
This is how the activities on Friday the 17th will take place at the Luis Vives College of the Autonomous University of Madrid, and those on Saturday the 18th at the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC Quintana).
For its part, La Marimala de Lavapiés will host the opening of the event on Thursday the 16th, with the participation of Erik Jarry and Monsieur Baguette: “EcoDrag: the end of carnivorous males”, followed by Cañas PRISMÁTICAS, a social gathering of members and participants.
You can now consult the complete program of activities, among which we can highlight the international plenary session by Kevin Guyan, who will share his reflections on the tension between the need for data that allows us to quantify and understand the reality of the LGTBIQA+ group to guide policies of tolerance to diversity; versus the need to avoid counts of people that could facilitate the identification and discrimination of people in the group, reflections compiled in his recently published book “Queer data.”
For her part, Noemí López Trujillo will talk to us about “ The (in)visible bias of biphobia and femme phobia”, and from PRISMA we will give a workshop on experiences in the organization of LGTBIQA+ groups in companies and research centers.
