Patrick Iannone Appointed as VP of Publications & Publications Council Chair

The IEEE Photonics Society’s Board of Governors is proud to announce that Patrick (Pat) Iannone, Ph.D., a distinguished professional with an extensive background in optical and wireless systems, has been appointed as the Vice President (VP) of Publications and will serve as the Society’s Publications Council Chair.

Iannone received his BS and Ph.D. from Columbia and Princeton Universities, respectively. His career journey includes a significant tenure at AT&T Bell Labs (later AT&T Labs). In 2014, he rejoined Nokia Bell Labs, showcasing his commitment to advancing technological innovation.

With numerous co-authored publications, 52 U.S. patents, and impactful service on various conference and society committees, Iannone has proven himself as a leader in the field. Notably, he has served as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking. His achievements have earned him the esteemed titles of Fellow of the IEEE and Optica.

As VP of Publications, Iannone will not only oversee the Society’s publications portfolio but will also build upon the initiatives of the previous Council. The focus remains on enhancing the visibility and impact of our publications while continuously improving the experience for authors and IEEE Photonic Society members alike.
