In December 2000, the United Nations (UN) declared 18 December International Migrants Day due to the large and increasing number of migrants around the world. It was chosen because it is the anniversary of when the UN General Assembly adopted the “International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families” in 1990 (A/RES/45/148).
In recognition of International Migrants Day, this lecture explores the historical role of the migration of engineers in advancing technology for humanity.
