Tuan Guo received his Ph.D. in Optics from Nankai University (China) in 2007. Since 2010, he has been with the Institute of Photonics Technology at Jinan University (China), first as assistant professor and as professor in photonics, and since 2023 he was appointed as vice dean of the College of Physics & Optoelectronic Engineering at Jinan University.

He has authored or coauthored around 300 papers in scientific journals and conference contributions, in the area of optical fiber sensors and sensing systems, with a strong focus on the applications of renewable energy and healthcare industries using optical fiber sensing technologies. He is a Fellow of OPTICA (the Optical Society of America) and senior member of IEEE. He was a recipient of Technical Award and Best Application Award both from the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society (IMS).

He is the technical committee chair of photonic technology in IEEE IMS. He served as associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (2023-present), Measurement: Energy (2023-present) and Science China Information Sciences (2018-present). He also served as associate TPC chair of IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference since 2019 to present.
