Min Yong Jeon received his B.S. degree in physics from Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, in 1988, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He has been a Professor in the Department of Physics at Chungnam National University, Daejeon, Republic of Korea, since May 2003.

Prior to joining Chungnam National University, he worked as a Research Scientist at the University of California, Davis, CA, USA, where he conducted research on optical routers. From 1994 to 2001, he was with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, Republic of Korea, where he worked on optical network subsystems.

He has authored and coauthored more than 100 articles in refereed journals and over 200 papers in international conference proceedings. His current research interests include mode-locked fiber lasers, optical fiber devices, optical fiber sensors, and optical terahertz wave generation.
