Dr. Beatriz Ortega received her Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering in 1999 from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPVLC). From 1997 to 1998, she joined the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom). In 1999 she got an Associate Lectureship at the Telecommunications Engineering Faculty in UPVLC where she got the Full Professorship in 2009. Her research activity at the Photonics Research Laboratory Group include fibre Bragg gratings, microwave photonics and optical wired and wireless networks with more than 200 papers and conference contributions. With several patents, she is also a co-founder of EPHOOX, funded as a spinoff company. She is IEEE Member since 1999 and regularly participates as Technical Committee member in the most relevant international conferences as well as international project evaluation boards.
