Solicitation for Nominations

This message on behalf of Perry Shum, IEEE Photonics Society Past President.

It is time to prepare the slate of nominees for the election of the 2027-2029 IEEE Photonics Society Board of Governors’ (BoG) members, and we are soliciting your support in this endeavor. As always, we are looking for the best people from a variety of backgrounds, with a strong desire, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve the Society. We particularly encourage the suggestion of candidates who have previously served our Society and are already familiar with our objectives and operations. This might include service to our publications, conferences, or membership and chapter activities.

As in previous years, we strive to balance the representation of elected members on the Board of Governors with regard to demographics. Broad participation is important and please keep this in mind in terms of geography, gender, industry/Govt/academia, experience, young professionals, etc.

Please visit the submission site to complete a nomination form for potential candidates for these elected positions. The Candidate Solicitation for Members-at-Large to the Board of Governors will close on January 16, 2026. Please do not contact any of the proposed nominees at this time, as we will do so after the board approves the slate of candidates for the election. Self-nominations are not permitted.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Mergner in the IEEE Photonics Society executive office directly. (k.mergner@ieee.org)

We sincerely appreciate your help and support. The people elected to the Society’s Board are charged with defining the future of our organization and it is essential to find the best and most dedicated members for this very important task.
