We are pleased to announce the addition of a new panel of Associate Editors to the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics (JSTQE) editorial board, to further strengthen and advance the journal’s editorial process. We invite applications from active faculty members at universities and leading scientists and engineers in the photonics and optoelectronics industry, particularly those working in R&D environments.
Associate Editors will serve a three-year appointment and play a vital role in supporting the journal’s academic mission by reinforcing editorial leadership, expanding topical coverage, and deepening engagement across the global research and innovation communities.
Responsibilities
Associate Editors are expected to contribute to the journal through the following activities:
Topical Development and Strategic Input
- Propose and recommend emerging, frontier, and high-impact research topics
- Provide strategic input on potential Special Issues or thematic Sections
Manuscript Handling and Peer Review Support
- Assist Guest Editors in managing submitted manuscripts
- Support the peer-review process, including reviewing manuscripts when appropriate
- Recommend qualified reviewers and provide assessments of reviewer reports
Perspective and Commentary Contributions
- Coordinate Perspective articles or Editorials
- Highlight timely scientific advances and emerging trends in the field
Academia-Industry Engagement
- Support industry interviews, technology outlooks, or translational features
- Strengthen connections between academic research and industrial innovation
Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Be active faculty members at a university or research institution
- Serve as leading scientists or engineers in R&D departments within the photonics and optoelectronics industry
- Have a strong publication record within the journal’s scope, particularly in photonics and optoelectronics
- Demonstrate commitment to scholarly excellence, ethical publishing, and professional service to the research community
- Preferably: Have prior editorial or peer reviewer experience
