We are delighted to announce that Gabriella Bosco of Politecnico di Torino, Italy, has been chosen as the recipient of the 2024 IEEE Photonics Society Distinguished Service Award.

Gabriella Bosco received her Ph.D. in Electronic and Communication Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2002, where she is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications. Her main research interests include the performance analysis and design of optical transmission systems, as well as the application of digital signal processing and advanced modulation techniques in optical links. She was elevated to Fellow of Optica in 2017 and IEEE in 2019, in recognition of her contributions to the modeling and design of coherent optical communication systems.
Since 2011, she has served on the program committee of several prestigious international conferences, including the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), the IEEE Photonics Society’s Annual Meeting (IPC), and the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC), where she served as Program Chair in 2017 and General Chair in 2019. Currently, she is serving as the Program Chair of IPC and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Lightwave Technology, having previously served as Associate Editor from 2014 to 2017 and Deputy Editor in 2018.
